remove radio to pull hazard switch on 2000 a6?
Hi folks,
Me again harrassin all you good people. I have searched but can't seem to tell if I would have to remove my radio on the 2000 a6 to remove the hazard switch. I pulled the trim off and can see the puppy right there. it looks like I could pry it out but have a tendency to destroy things doing such. New years eve's really change when you have a baby in the house. I am hoping to rip a beer when the warden goes to bed. Safe 2006 to all!

You don't have to remove the radio. YOu gotta remove the faceplate that is above the radio and surrounding the hazard and the cupholder/extra buttons. You just pry the thing up with a small knife. I used a very blunt flat butter-knife. there's no clicking mechanism, just some grippers that hold the plate on. make sure you don't torque it much or you'll break off the clips.
here's a good step-through:

Just a follow up.
thanks a ton Eric Moran. I pulled it out, cleaned the contacts and promply bent the little brass piece that goes back and forth. However, the blinkers work as long as I manually click the stalk hiether and fro. At least I am no longer a danger on the road. The new part is on order. I hope you have monday off. That link to the step by step was a lifesaver. maybe truly becasue with no blinkers it is a accident waiting to happen. my handsignals just distracted people who thought i was wavin to em.
