Default rims making contact with brake calipers

Hello everyone! I am new to this forum as I just purchased a 2000 s4 a couple of days ago. When I purchased the car it came with 17" 9-spoke audi rims as opposed to the normal 6-spoke s type rims. Thought nothing of it until I noticed that the inside of the spokes on the front wheels actually contacts the brake calipers enough to nick the rims and shave some metal off the calipers. Opposed to buying the old rims back, I was wondering if there are any aftermarket calipers that are more narrow than oem to fix this problem. Cheers.

Anything you'd purchase to replace/modify your brake caliper posture to slim it inside the wheel would ultimately be much more costly than a new set of wheels, IMHO.

You can buy wheel spacers to move the wheel towards the outside of the vehicle. Although you may run into clearance issues with the fenders if you move them out to far.

I have a 2000 A6 2.7. I had to get rims that had a 35 mm offset and get some wheel spacers. I had to go with a 5mm spacer I think. If you go with spacers, I strongly suggest using an application from Eibach. They make one specifically for Audis. You get two spacers in a kit, and they come with the extra long lug bolts you will need. I paid about $72 for each kit, front and back. Don't go with cheap generic spacers. If they don't fit right, the wheel will work itself loose and come off. Been there, done that. Make sure you don't try to use the stock lug bolts if you add spacers. Good Luck.

you only need a small spacer, 5mm might be a little too much, but its impossible to tell over the computer, so just figure it out

stock offset for most modern Audi-ii is 42mm, I believe, so if you get a set of wheels with only a 35, spacers may be what you'll need.

i would buy soem wheel spacers form jegs, 2 day shipping, http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...18581_-1_11611

and i would also get your rims balanced, seeing how it is missing some weight from metal being scratched off
