Default Rotor resurfacing

My mechanic told me the brakes need to be replaced and the rotors need resurfacing on my 06 A8 (60,000 miles). He couldn't resurface the rotors because his machine couldn't do rotors that big. Will the dealer do this and if so how much will they charge me? Or are they gonna tell me I just have to buy new ones?

Hmmm I dont know about the dealer doing it, but as long as there is enough rotor left some place will do it, and yeah its cheaper than buying new ones and doing this is just as cold as getting new ones.

I blow through rotors on my A4 like lollipops..about every 15K miles. I'm suprised there is enough meat on the rotors to consider refacing. Not many people do this anymore. They will have to be measured for thickness to determine if they can be resurfaced and still remain in factory tollerance.

I had a local machine shop resurface my rotors, $ 15 each.

I would not recommend resurfacing the rotors since they will warp alot easier then normal. Remember we drive very heavy cars, just if you can bite the bullet and buy some new rotors along with some new pads.
