Ok so here it goes...

We had a very hard rain last weekend and when I got into the car and started it, the car was idling very rough causing the car to shake and the check engine light came on. I drove around for a week with the CEL on with no further problems at idle. I had the check engine light read and reset. The code was p0171(running lean) and after the reset the car had a rough idle again. This sounds like a MAF sensor problem but has anyone else had a similar experience. I'm going to do a tune up(air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, etc) and clean the MAF sensor to see if this helps. Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you have any water in the car (carpets wet)?

 

Well not on the carpets but when I opened the front door, water poured out but didn't seem to enter the cab. This was on the front and rear door. Why do you ask?
