Default Stop leak for leaking heater core?

I have a 1995 Audi 90S and have a leaking heater core, and maybe the radiator. Starting about a year ago, I would have to top the coolant up once every month or two, but had zero fogging of the windows. My mechanic said the radiator was leaking (although I could smell coolant inside the car after it was warm). Sometime this summer, the leak got worse to the point where I had to start topping coolant off once every two weeks or so, and when the weather got cold, my windows now fogged up and I could see the coolant on the passanger side floor. I have decided I do not wish to put anymore money into the car and am saving up for an A4. I was thinking about trying a stop leak product to help alleviate my coolant leak, or at least slow it down, but i'm hestitant because i've heard it can have unwanted consequences in the cooling system as well. Is this true? Should I try a stop leak product, and if so, what would be the best and most reputable brand? JB is what first came to mind, but there's a lot out there.

just by- pass the heater core altogether and turn the seat heaters on high!! I did it for 3 winters!! I still have the new heater core on a shelf here for a 1988 audi 90 w/manual climate control. Id use bars leaks

You can try Bars Leak.. just get the newer aluminum 'fine' particle one, not the one based one lead as it has a greater chance of just pluging the passages in the core all together...

just hit 250,000 miles in a major snowstorm and the quattro is just not effected by any surface thrown in its path , I am amazed at how it outperformed all other vehicles on the road!! I finally put heater core in this car and boy was I glad to have heat! Even though I have no clue what -32 degrees farenheit is like!
