Stripped Head on Axle Bolt
The unthinkable happened. As I was trying to break the torque on my left rear axle bolt I felt the breaker bar slip out and off. Sure enough the 14mm recessed allen head of the bolt was stripped out quite badly. I tried all the usual extraction methods such as PB Blaster, turning clockwise then back, and tapping on it with a hammer. I would think the amount of torque required for this bolt would break an easy out or any other bolt extraction product, so I have yet to try anything else. The only thing I can think of is welding something to the bolt head that I can connect a breaker bar to.
Do you guys think that will work? or does anyone have any better ideas? |
Disregard. I was able to get it out with a little bit of heat.
