To preface: '01 1.8T Stock, 74k miles, spark plugs have been changed, recently had hose replaced due to boost leak. NO CEL's

1.) Every time my car has sat overnight, when I begin to drive and come to my first complete stop, my idle stutters for a brief second and rpms drop. This only lasts for literally a second or two, then doesn't happen again.

2.) I have a decent commute, about 25 miles each way. Of course, traffic always sucks, a lot of stop and go...(thanks to California, Texas, and Mexico....I live in Colorado by the way) Anyway, at times when sitting in traffic with the car idling, the rpmsdrop every so often....nothing too crazy, you don't even see the needle take a dive, just enough to feel the car slightly hiccup.

3.) Every time I would begin to drive, there was a misfire in 1st gear only at about 2500-3000 rpms. This happened for a month or so, then now suddenly, its gone. These problems don't just fix themselves?? Similiar to the first gear misfire, I have had one in 5th gear only aswell, but it onlyhappened every once in awhile, and only when I attempted to accelerate quickly. Now, it seems that once the misfire in first gear mysteriously disappeared, it is much more prevalent and frequent in fifth gear. Again, only when I attempt to accelerate quicker than normal. If I just slowly press on the gas to ease into the acceleration, it does not tend to misfire.

** Forgive me, as I have stated previously, I'm not much of a DIY'er and I have limited mechanical knowledge. Just looking for possibilities, opinions, similiar experiences, or if the problems are somehow related-

Thanks for the response, 2k. I'll do a search and hopefully, try it this weekend. I'll give an update once I get a chance to do it-

 

clean the throttle body. i got a similar problem with the idle dropping and everyones told me to clean out the TB.
