Default Timing set?

I have a 96 A4 with the 2.8 that I am installing a used engine in. I replaced all the timing belt stuff, seals, gaskets etc while on the engine stand. I had to rotate the passenger side cam about 1 notch in order for the cam lock tool to line up. After completing I turned the engine over a couple of times and everything seems ok. Do I assume the timing is set correct and all is well since the cam lock tool was used? If not what can I do?

the crank has to line up with the mark. when it does if the cam bar fits in and locks in place. Your timing is set.

Yes, the crank was set to the mark and locked. With the old belt in place the cam lock tool would not line up exact.
