Note that there is a federally mandated warranty on certain emissions components, including Catalytic Converters, for 8yrs or 80,000 miles. (See link below) and if the work is done at an authorized repair location (deeler) you cannot be charged for any part of the replacement of a faulty cat.

I have the same problem. I am a newby the Audi world but i've always loved them. i recently recieved the same error. I have an 02 a4 cvt. Should i simply take it to the dealership and have them take care of it?! thanks for all the help guys!
