Washer pump location
The pump is attached to the washer bottle on the bottom. As mentioned before, it can be accessed through the fender liner or by removing the hydraulic tank, then the water bottle. I have replaced the pump on 2 A6's this way.
When you get access to the pump, there's a top connection to the bottle. Pull this connection out of the bottle, then slide the pump up and out of the bottle. Empty the bottle before you start or all the fluid will drain out.
The pump has a flaw where the bottom seal for the pump shaft leaks and seizes the motor. I have been successful in taking the pump apart, getting some penetrating oil or motor oil and getting the pump working again. Done this twice on one pump and once on another. It's not a permanent solution but will get you back on the road or ready for inspection and may last up to a year or more. Best solution is to buy a new pump.
