Amy j here again with the 99 quattro hubby is trying to fix....he wants to know does he need to have all sensors and relays hooked up for car to start and also can he just hold fuel rail up to see if they are spraying correctly

 

Given the complexity of these cars, I would say yes (minus anything NOT related to the engine). ALL of the sensors on the engine should be hooked up. There are only a couple or three relays for the engine though.
