a4 1.8T intake
ok so i want to get a diverter valve for my audi but i was told from a friend that i need an aftermarket intake because the diverter valve pushes the air out through the filter and the stock filter box muffles the sound.. is this true? and if so what kind of intake should i get is there a cheap why of doing this or just go K&N??

Your friend is wrong. a diverter valve recirculates the the air back to the turbo intake pipe/hose so no air is actually lost/pushed out of the system. If it's the sound you are after, i would recommend the Forge Splitter Valve since it "recirculates" most of the air like its supposed to and still makes the swoosh sound. all you would need is the valve it self.

but if i get that where would the sound be coming from?? the valve itself or somewhere else?
|
and also where does the valve go? what does it connect to?
|
Well your friend was some what right. If you put in a upgraded aftermarket BPV(DV) you are not going to hear it any more then you hear the stock one because the stock box does in fact muffle the sound.
If you want sound you need a hybrid valve like the Forge splitter, GFB hybrid, GFB FX Stealth or Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port. |
wheres the cheapest diverter/splitter

im waiting on this my self Im looking to put an intake on mine also :P ...does it matter if i have an 1.8t quattro or would it be the same??

Just get an intake for your year and engine and you'll be fine. The cheapest upgraded DV is an OEM valve from someone with a 225TT or an S4.
