custom cold air/air box/heat shield intake

im building a custom cold air setup with heatshield. ive made a template for my heatshield and am about to hook up the mass air sensor. can anybody post a pic of your template for the heat shield and how you set up your intake pipes. i know how i would set up mine but i just to see what other people are doing.

also there is a bosche module in the airbox. what does that do? it doesnt seem to have anything to do with the intake.

any help is appreciated :D

i have a 97 A4 B5 1.8t btw

That Bosch module is your MAF or mass air flow meter. You can take it out of your air box but it has to be set up with your new cold air. Just search MAF if your not sure and you will find tons of info.

i know what a mass air sensor is and i know what to do with it. not that dumb :P there is ANOTHER module with a whopping great heatsink in the intake box lid. i believe it is for the ignition but im not sure. should i keep in in the flow on intake air or just move it to a clean dry spot with clear air flow.

thats the ignition control module. it needs to be attached to a heatsink of some kind and preferrably attached to the intake as to keep things cool. just a good idea to think about, next time post your own pics first

Not sure on your year but on my 01 A4 the heatsink is not used for anything. But a 97 it might be used and if it is you could remove it from the box and attach your idle to it. Just might have to fab up something to attach the heatsink to.
