Which drop in fillter?

What kind of drop in fillter should i get? I have a 01.5 S4 and was going to get a K&N but I was wondering if thiers anything that outperforms it?
Thanks

Just a word of the wise about the K&N Filter... Im not really alone on this issue either.

It costs roughly around $50. Im sure you would notice it more in an S4 than a 1.8t. It comes pre oiled so it can slide into place easier. After installing it, in less than a month... my check engine light comes on.

I take it in to be serviced... the oil from the filter clogged every sensor in the area. A $50 filter cost me $600 in repairs.

For what you get, K&N isnt worth it. I dont know if all filters are the same, coming pre oiled, but its something to look out for.
I would go for a cold air intake.

ok first off it sounds like the filter was overly oiled, i mean it would have had to been dripping oil for it to clogg any sensors, you should have noticed this and removed some of the oil via a towel. secondly the filter isn't oiled so it "slips into place" its oiled because that is how it traps dirt and filters the air. the dirt and other particles stick to the oil which then sticks to the filter, not getting into the engine. without the oil this design of filter would be next to useless. oh and it sounds like you got ripped off, learn to do things yourself, its harder to rip yourself off.

reccommend ITG liked it better than K&N. from a A6 2.7T w/GIAC owner

Have heard of many problems with K&N's on Audi's. I would stick with Mann brand filters, air flow tests show they flow only a little less than K&N's and do a better job of filtering out particles.

Have had K&N on both my Audis now. Never any problems.
Have reoiled them a number of times too.
Just have to be careful not to over oil them. No real noticable differewnce in power though
