I'm pretty sure a piece of my catalytic converter broke off inside of it and it's making a super annoying rattle when my rpms are coming down. There's no check engine light and my car doesn't seem to be losing any performance, the sound just drives me crazy. I really don't want to buy a new cat so I was wondering if I could just take it off and scrape out the broken pieces. Will this give me a check engine light or hurt my car at all, it also just passed inspection a day ago, thanks in advance for any feedback

 

You'll throw codes for cat efficiency. Replace the cat or get your car chipped with additional code that removes the secondary O2 sensors. Future advice - please add your car's info to a signature in your User Control Panel settings. It'll save a lot of hassle with people having to ask what you drive whenever there's a question, as different models vary widely in some cases when trying to address problems.
