A few questions about this MagnaFlow I'm about to put on my 2.8 b5

I doubt it will add any horsepower, but will the MagnaFlow 14815 muffler add any HP? Also I know the stock muffler is side welded.. any idea how much it will cost to install if I go to a chop shop?

Just doing a muffler probably won't do anything for output, and only does a very minimal change in sound. What I did was put on a 14816 along with a Vibrant 12" perf-core resonator (to replace the huge, heavy, shitty stock resonator), and build new piping. I went to an exhaust shop in town, handed them the muffler and resonator, and they built the rest of the piping from the cat back and welded everything up. Total for the shop (including the piping, hangers, and labor) was $150. The car is WAY more aggressive sounding, it burbles and pops on the overrun in gear, and is deep and mean sounding, but very toned, not ratty at all. I can imagine it giving a bump in midrange torque too, since the system is now completely made of pipe and perf-core (rather than baffled) components.

Hey does ur exhaust system work for the vw 00 2.8 v6? If it does do you have the model numbers for the resonator

And did it add any hp at all to your car?

A 2.8 is a 2.8 when it comes to the B5 platform for a custom exhaust. I have a DBC AHA motor, and my buddy's 2000 Passat is a DBC ATQ motor. The design of the factory exhaust is different between our cars (I'm Quattro and he's front-drive) but we both have the same parts. Use this resonator:

Vibrant Performance Resonator 2.5" Inlet 12" Long 1792

Have your exhaust cut off after the cats, expanded to 2.5" to mate with the Vibrant, and then have 2.5" piping coming out and back to the Magnaflow. We both used the 14816 muffler with a 2.5" inlet.

How much power was gained, hard to say. Like I said above, I'd believe a midrange torque bump due to the greatly increased flow (the stock system looks incredibly restrictive), but you're not gonna see much at all. The sound and look is definitely worth it.
