has anyone seen or heard about this air filter?
i found it on jegs, looks like a cheap alternative to K&N if you dont want to deal with the oil/maf problems
i cant find a website on it or anything so i dont know anything about it, and ive never really heard much about stainless steel mesh filters, i knew they were out there just never came to my mind
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...53091_-1_10805
(maybe theres a reason why they are half off?)

The stainless steel might be a bad deal because it will get to hot. You would have to make a really good heat shield.
This is just what i think on it. Do what you want

who called it a k&n type filter? i said it could be an alternative to k&n because ive read that the k&n oil can plug the maf, like i said in my original post....

im sorry, a replacement/alternative to k&n. Its not going to flow the same and if you want something like that without oil, get a AEM oil less filter and be done with it.

i went afe. i talked to a few parts specialist and they all say the same thing:
K&N - more concerned about air flow
AFE - more concerned about filtering out particles to keep going into your engine. But they also have a large surface area so air flow isnt an issue i believe. regardless, i dont think there's a huge difference except i know AFE is made from polyeurathane (SP?) so withstand some heat vs. plastic
