k03 turbo
what is the max boost that i can get out of a k03 turbo?
|
around 18 without killing all internals.
|
im running 19 now. and the turbo sounds like it just about had it.

18psi seems about right...
I am getting max sustained of 15 psi and spikes of 16-17psi, as read from a VDO mechanical boost gauge. I plumbed my gauge right off the manifold, after the throttle valve. I have the stock k03(s) turbo with an O.CT chip/program. Not sure if you are asking about a K03s or K03? Don't know how much pressure drop there is across the stock SMIC or how high that program is trying to push the boost in the first place. So I might be spiking around 18-19psi at the compressor outlet. The car as been running this setup for over 40k miles. Hope that helps.

All of you are wrong lol
I ran 26psi on my stock K03 that came with my car, that was on a custom GIAC chip for CA 91 octane. |

what kind of power were you making? how long did the turbo last?
and why would you custom tune a K03? lol You can find it on this very old 1/4 mile B5 A4 list. http://timeslips.bootnetworks.com/ Here is my actual K03 time slip from back in 2001. http://timeslips.bootnetworks.com/pics/k03-timeslip.jpg The funny part is that my K03 on a earlier custom file I was able to put down as much tq on a dyno as a APR Stage 3 on a race tune put down right after I got off the dyno. That car was even brought to the event by APR since it was owned by an employee and they were using it as R&D for tuning. Actually I pushed that k03 hard for over a year, even took it to the drag strip every single weekend and some times even more then 1 day at the track for 12 months before I removed it for a GT28r setup. I ended up selling that turbo a few years ago to someone I knew and he still has it on his A4.:p |
damn Mike, you are a legend
did that custom tune build boost slower than a generic GIAC file that you buy online? I dont understand how you didnt destroy that poor little turbo |

I dont understand how you didnt destroy that poor little turbo My custom tune was tweaked to allow the throttle body to open much quicker as I hit the pedal. The custom 26psi street tune I was running ended up being used to produce the J31 K04 file for the 2000 which runs around 28psi but works best when ran at 25psi. |

Mike, so I got a 2001 audi a4 1.8t AWM block with AEB HEAD big port n polish with precision 5758 .63a/r turbo, greedy BOV, godspeed headers, 3" cat back exhaust, 2 1/2 piping kit & intercooler, water n methanol injection(comes on at 9psi), adjustable timing gear, and everything else is stock. how much boost can I run safely with out blowing my motor? And what tune would you recommend? How much timing can/should I advance it? |
