test pipe and APR ecu question

Hey guys,

New to the Audi's and this forum. I have a new (to me) 06 A4 S-line (2.0T) and am seeking some upgrade advice. So far I am nearly certain the first thing I am going to do is an APR ECU upgrade. I noticed that the Stage I and Stage II's only real difference is the requirement of a test pipe.

Does anyone know if these ecu upgrades are the same but you get more gain off of having the test pipe or if they are completely different programs? If they are different than I will get the test pipe first then do the upgrade because I cant do both at the same time.

Also I read on here that our intakes are pretty good flowing as is so after these two upgrades would I be best off saving for a cat back exhaust and if so does it matter if I go with various brands or should I stick to one due to being tuned for each other (i.e. all APR)?

Thanks,
Bob

well i have an o1 1.8t and a stage 2 with a test pipe. its a very slight difference in programs. basicly helping turn the check engine light off and i spike at 20 psi and hold at like 17 instead of 15 it may be different for your different year. contact your local apr and im sure they could explain the differences in much detail
best of luck

I have an 07 a4 s-line and am working on a stage two set up. My local APR rep. said that the chip perameters are the same. Once you have the test pipe installed it just has to be reflashed which will turn off the check engine light for the missing cat. The only problem you may have with the test pipe being installed, and if you have a stock exhaust is it is louder with a funny (but ok) tone. Exhaust is next for sure. good luck and if you do both... its a new car for sure.
