Time to replace exhaust B6 A4
 

Last October my flex pipe gave out and I went to Monro and got a new one put in to keep running. Now my 2002 A4 1.8T exhaust has another leak. I went to another Monro and they said that there actually are 4 places that I am having issues with rust holes so it is time to replace the whole exhaust. I have been watching YouTube videos and so far I like the sound of the Borla the best. They gave me a quote to replace the stock parts and it was <$1300. The good thing is the guy I was talking to has a Jetta with the same engine and he said it would save me a lot of money to just purchase an aftermarket cat back system with better performance. I have been looking online and so far the best pricing I have found on the Borla is $671 and $850 for the magnaflow. Two questions I wanted to throw out there for discussion. Does anyone have any information on where I can get these at better pricing? and which one is actually Quieter? I am 41 and my wife already heckles me about mid-life crisis with any upgrades I do. She hated my Civic when I put on a free flow muffler because it was louder than stock. Even though I proved to her that I had saved money on fuel economy, she still put back the stock exhaust. With that in mind I have to be careful about how loud it is. The other thought was to get it done custom and replace the Y and resonator with a free flow muffler with dual out to the two mufflers like stock. I figure that may still give me the increased flow while being quieter and doing away with the point that has the biggest exhaust leak. I really want to hear others thoughts on this.

Both of those are going to be pretty loud, if you want something quite but better then stock then you might want to look at the Miltek but it cost more.

Fix Err Up
 

So I stopped in at Lou's custom exhaust yesterday. after they put it up on the lift and we talked a little, they said the can take out the y section with the resonator and replace it with new pipe. They also had this neat little custom turbo pipe that is a small round turbo muffler that is small enough to fit under our cars. It will give me better flow and keep the noise minimal as a deep tone. All this for around $400. Not a bad deal, so if you are in the greater Boston area and need any exhaust work done, I would recommend Lou's Custom Exhaust.
