What part is this?
 

I just bought my 01.5 A4Qtip. It appears to have an exhaust leak coming from a part in the exhaust. I looked at it with a flashlight and have narrowed it down to a cross braided donut looking object directly under where the gearshift would be under the car. I'm not sure what it is, but i can actually see the leak/hole in that part. If this doesnt help I can possible take some pictures.

flex pipe... bring it to an exhaust shop and they should throw a new one in pretty cheap.

Maybe ill just drive it as is and save up for an exhaust.. hmmm..

Anyways, heres the part, you can see the braiding has lost connection with the pipe:

just make sure you get a catback system if you do or else you'll still have that broken flex pipe as its part of your downpipe...
