my attempt at diy shift knob reconditioning

ok well my shift knob was fading/cracking/peeling. i got tired of looking at it after cleaning interior so what i did was manned up and went to Joannes fabric and bought some fake looking leather sheet. it was the closest thing i could find..

i removed the shift knob from the boot and popped off the little emblem thing and cut the stitching from the original leather piece.

then i cut the shape out on the fake leather fabric

here was my first failed attempt to create a spherical shape. notice the bump is too much.

i tried again and sewed up a new one

the tape is on top to hold the shape of the sphere where the emblem goes while the glue dries. hopefully it will retain that shape when i remove the tape. i used liquid stich for the glue part.
