Have 3 Audi's: Allroad, A6, & TT. Brought A6 in for an alignment and mechanic stated tie rods were frozen, so he cut them off. At home, I took vice grips and was relatively easy in loosening the retaining but and turning the outer tie rod. Mech says they never heat parts on the tie rods due to the potential to melt the rubber. I think he didn't try very hard to loosen the nut or turn the outer tie rod. Does Audi recommend applying heat to the nut and the bolt on the inner tie rod?
