i have an 07 automatic A4 2.0T(not a quattro) when i bought the car a year ago it had 91k miles on it. for as long as i have had it it has never given me any problems. I just got a new timing belt on the car 6 weeks ago. It now has 101k on it and just about 2 weeks ago i started my car and heard this funny sound and thought to myself what the h*** was that? then i looked down at my dash and my gears started to flash and my transmission light came on. the car still drove just fine i just could not see what gear i was in. i went to the gym that day and when i came back out to start the car it was fine and the transmission light was not on anymore. it has driven fine ever since. then today it started again but without the noise. but when i have the E brake on and put the car in reverse the revs drop to about 700-800 which is below the normal 900 idle. but once i push down the foot break it goes back to 900.
