I just signed up on audi forms today. I live in Fenton MO looking for more audi fans just to talk cars with and hopefully meet up with and do a cruise or something.

KCA3 04-06-2011 02:57 AM

I'm from KC. I don't actually have an Audi yet, but there is a good chance I will be picking up a white A3 Saturday. So I'm here to do my research.

zeroduk 04-06-2011 09:25 AM

i apologize that this thread is SO dead, but you've succeeded in making me jealous. lol! i've always wanted an A3, and i'm a sucker for white cars. lol! i know you said it's not for sure, but what year/engine ya looking at?

Geckonator 04-06-2011 10:27 AM

Lol! I love white and i love wagons, and i have no idea why. But the one I am looking at is a 06 and it has the 2.0T FSI motor. Has around 64,000 miles but its only like 12k so I figure it's not to bad a deal. Its the base model I believe. The only thing i'm not to big a fan of, is that it doesnt have fog lights and The interior is a light tan. I'll miss my heated leathers.

zeroduk 04-07-2011 11:27 AM

oh wow. i'm incredibly jealous. i don't know if you're into tuning or anything or plan on keeping it stock or whatever, but a friend of mine has an a3 running apr stage 2 on his and it flies! lol! his is black though. :p
good luck on the car. it sounds like a good deal and they're good cars if you take good care of them. i'm out in Wentzville Missouri...like 350+ miles away. lol!

turbo kraut 04-07-2011 04:23 PM

my stage 3 a4 flies too :D

KCA3 04-08-2011 12:11 AM

I'd love to see some other A3's maybe ride in a couple modded ones. I plan on doing a little something something to it though, but i'm not sure how far into it i will get. Any idea on what that apr stage 2 a3 will do in the quarter? More importantly what i will trap? Just to give me some kind of idea. I'm trading in my supercharged cobalt for it, so if it will be faster then what the cobalt was i will be happy.

I wanted a A4 for the longest time, but never found one i really wanted.

zeroduk 04-09-2011 10:57 AM

i talked to him about it, and he told me what exactly was done, and it's a little meaner than i thought. so i apologize for my previous claims. here's a link to what he's got on his, but keep in mind he's got a few other little tweaks and such. i don't think you'll have a problem at all besting a S.C. Cobalt with this powerband. ;)

http://www.goapr.com/products/turbo_trans20t_k04.html

i apologize for not exactly knowing 60ft times and such, they recently shut down our local track so it's hard to get any sort of official readings. lol! just imagine what it'd do with 110.... 355hp and 368tq with just 100. lol! and all that starting at about 2500rpms... only problem you'll have is crazy heat soak without a front mount (which they recommend) and getting grip. lol! invest in slicks. :p

@turbo kraut:
yeah dude... if you only knew how crazy jealous i am of your car... haven't talked to you in a long time. how's it running? any reliability problems or anything?
btw, my a4 is getting the luxury treatment of a front mount and tune (already did exhaust and intake) in about 2 weeks. i'm excited!

The cobalt was no slouch when it had everything on it either, I had a bigger blower on it, meth injection 90/10, full exhaust, intake, cooling mods, tune etc. I never got my car dyno'd while on meth cause the switch kept going out, but i have friends with the same mods making around 300-330whp. All though torque was weak. But the power band was awesome, 300+whp from 3000rpm all the way up to 8000.

But I have bad news, the dealership sold the a3 i was going to buy the day before i was going to go trade it in. So Now i'm searching for another one. no luck so far.

zeroduk 04-12-2011 11:30 AM

aw dude, lame! lol! you should go steal it from the guy who bought it! lol!

i've got plans for my car.... so many to list. but my goal, 2.0-2.1 bore/hone, 25-30psi, head/valve work, GT30-71R, 500-650hp & 500-600ft-lbs.... loud, proud, and fast! lol! i've got so many plans, and literally the ONLY thing holding me back, is the lack of money right now... lol! and believe me, i KNOW how much it's going to be.... i'm looking at probably $10,000-12,000 for everything done right. but if i do it ALL myself.... probably closer to $8,000 or so.... i've got CNC equipment, balancing and flowtesting equipment, full shop availability.... just need the monies.... lol!

KCA3 04-12-2011 09:55 PM

It's always good to have plans man! I know how that is lol. I was wanting to go e85 on the a3, i've read about how people wherent to keen on the idea, but it would be cool.

zeroduk 04-13-2011 08:24 AM

lol! yeah, i've got notebooks full of plans.... and a closet/room full of parts.... lol!

but yeah, e85 is a GREAT idea! lol! my friend jac, runs e85 on a tune and everything, and makes just, ridiculous gobs of power out of his a6. and then alex, a mutual friend of us both, we converted his civic by putting bigger injectors, adjustable fpr, and a walbro 255. that literally all we did and now he's e85. lol! there's many good things about it. car runs colder, you can run higher boost, the gas is cheaper by a LOT! (at least to me since i run premium 93 octane) however, a common misconception, is that your gas mileage will go up. it really won't unfortunately. while e85 burns at about the same effect as 110 race gas... it also requires approximately 1.7 times as much to do so (hints why fpr, fuel pump and injectors are required for the civic) it tends to equal itself out at the pump, but with the increase in power i see it as being well worth it.

if i'm wrong about anything please correct me, but that's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject, and i will THINK about doing it in the future... but until then, i'll stick with my car's favorite drink....

KCA3 04-14-2011 05:32 AM

Your right, it burns like 30%, from what i hear at normal driving you'll see about 3mpg drop. And I did the math, for me here, then you'll save $8 using E85 compared to gasoline going 322 miles on a tank which is what my car does.

But yea becareful with that meth, A word of advice if I may, replace the boost switch provided with a hobbs switch, mount it so the pick up tube will always be able to pick up the fuel (fluid transfer), and use 90/10 :). I went through 2 of those boost switches they provide, so you don't want it cutting out on you at full throttle. And I blew the motor in the cobalt cause the pick up tube in the tank was at the front and the fluid transfered to the back. But I ran 90/10 and it worked excellent for me!

zeroduk 04-14-2011 10:31 AM

yeah dude, i haven't really decided what i want to do yet... your idea sounds good, risky but good. i feel like i want to be able to manually control it... ya know? i like to be in control. lol!

right now though it's just parts piling up until i can get everything i need, then i'm calling off a week from work to get everything put on and my car tuned for stage 2 of what will probably be 5 steps total on my quest for 500hp then just fine tuning and stuff for the extra little bit..... all my plans will come a little later... i just need to sit down and think about it, school's been busy...

KCA3 04-14-2011 09:34 PM

I gotcha, I would just rather do staight E85 and not have to worry about meth ya know. Here's a good example of what the E85 did on a cobalt with relatively few mods.

And that sounds like a plan! Are there only canned tunes for the audi's or can you get tuning software and tune it yourself?

zeroduk 04-15-2011 03:09 PM

well, i've never actually heard about anyone tuning their Audis themselves as far as F-cons/stand-alones go.
the operating system they use on Audi VW and Porsche is called VAG-Com. You basically buy the encrypted wire for your computer<-->OBD port, and download the software. it costs a bit of money but it's worth it in my opinion. But, back to the matter at hand, you can use VAG com to do some little upgrades and odd little hacks, like being able to turn your fog lights on without your headlights on, and other little things. lol! but there's kinda cool little things you can do.
as far as custom tunes though, vast-performance.com. They're not only really awesome people, very friendly, but they stand by their products and offer custom tuning. basically, they have the canned tunes that any other place can offer (like goapr.com, who rock as well! and "GIAC" idk about them i haven't heard of anything about them from any friends) but then if you have any other mods that you add to your car, like a big exhaust, FMIC, or intake or injectors or anything at all like that, (as well as e85) you can send it in and they'll re-tune for free! the initial ECU upgrade is $600 dollars which is pretty steep, but then you get free re-tuning if you need it or run into any problems. they're awesome! that's my suggestion.

turbo kraut 04-15-2011 04:41 PM

034motorsports offers standalone.... and vast doesn't tweak others tunes.... they do their own tuning.....

there is no buy a tune, use your own vag cable that i am aware of.......

and yes there are a ton of off the shelf tunes......

zeroduk 04-18-2011 02:02 AM

oh dude! i totally forgot they offered that! yes, indeed, 034 IS the way to go for the stand alones. i totally forgot, price is steep, but then again, standalones always are. lol! yeah man, and idk if they do for the a3, but for my a4 i'm getting all race density mounts for my car from them soon.
