Ross-Tech VAG-COM HEX-USB CAN cable
Sold my 2008 Audi S5 and I am left with a Ross-Tech VAG-COM HEX-USB CAN cable. See http://www.ross-tech.com/Merchant2/m...uct_Code=VCHUC. This cable attaches to your Audi/VW onboard diagnostics port on one end and into a USB port on your laptop on the other end.
The cable also acts as a "licensing dongle" so that you can use the Ross-Tech VCDS software on your laptop. This cable is the higher end cable that is used by newer cars. Please review the car model-cable compatibility chart (http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/car...ons/index.html) to see what works with your vehicle. The VCDS software can be downloaded from their website but you need the cable/dongle to enable/activate the software.
Note that Ross-Tech's policy is that support is only offered to the "original owner" and if you require support, you can re-register and pay $99 direct to Ross-Tech.
This cable costs $349 new, I only used it a few times when I first got the car to enable/disable some features - so it's virtually new. Pricing it now at $275, I'll cover shipping.
Other details on the cable: About 6' in length, small print says: "HEX + CAN, Dual-K & CAN <-> USB Interface for VAG-COM HC476868 Rev. B"

Let's see if I have this right. I pay you $275 for a used cable and Ross-Tech $99 for a total of $374 when I can buy a new unit with unlimited downloads from Ross- Tech for $349? Why would anyone do that?

Not quite. ONLY if you require "direct tech support from Ross-Tech" do you need to pay the $99. The software is available for free download. So, if you can live without the tech support, this is a chance to get the cable/dongle at a steeper discount.

I'm in agreement, why pay almost the price of new for your cable?
Don't need it (I've already got one) but you might want to rethink your pricing from the other side of the equation.

Appreciate the feedback. The cable is just sitting here for me - so if someone is interesting in making an offer - let me know. I'm motivated.

You guys need to research the going market before bashing the OP about his price... which was completely fair. These cables demand a premium used... there is nothing to wear out so as long as you don't crush the connectors everything will work as new.
Don't believe me? Hell, do a little research on Audizine.com or VWvortex.com. I tried to buy a used Hex-Com cable but they were all snatched up so quickly I gave up and bought new. So I paid $387.37 (with PA Tax) and have never used, nor needed, any Ross-Tech support.

More importantly, you should check the time stamps in the top left corner of each post
(don't worry, I fall victim all the time too)
