Aftermarket Stereo - 2002 A4
I want to repalce my factory Audi Symphomy Stereo with a Pioneer deck that has built in bluetooth in my 2002 A4. I will be purchasing this from Crutchfield, with all of the installation hardware. My local locksmith advised that if I do this, he cannot guarantee that my keys will work, as the aftermarket stero will completely screw up my electronic systems. Has anyone had these type of issues???
Local locksmith?? If anyone, you should be talking to the local dealer and from what I know you shouldn't have problems. You'll need radio keys, though, to pull out your old Symphony unit. Btw, welcome to the forums!
the most common complaint I seem to hear is that some installations mess with the auto-scan function of the vag-com and/or prevent access of certain modules through the OBDII port. I can't say for certain that the aftermarket head unit causes this, it just seems that it is one of the common factors and it is relatively rare.
Other than that I am not aware problems with aftermarket radio stuff, except the usual problems one has when trying to run all the wires for a full install of amp(s) and speakers
