hi i'm jim, i just bought a 97 a4 for my son who will turn 16 in july. i have alot of questions.. for now i need to know about tires. the a4 has good tires on the front, but the tires on the rear need replaced. they are mismatched (goodyear and continental). i called for used tires to match the front and he told me if i dont buy tires matching tread depth to the front the transmission could get damage cause it is a quattro. is this true?

 

If the tires up front are good...but the rears are in need of replacement...arent the tires currently mismatched anyway?
