Hello Everyone! I'm Tony A. I am in need of advice. I own a 2011 Audi A6 with MMI Factory Stereo. I AM TIRED of all in the incompatibilities with this radio system. What can I do for a replacement system. I have tried the easiest thing which to me was going to crutchfield.com but of course they have not research my car so they offered no suggestions or method to replace with an aftermarket system. What do I do?

Hello Tony, and welcome to the forum!

As for your incompatibility issues, I take it you're having trouble connecting your phone to the car either via USB or bluetooth. Unfortunately, I don't know the specifics about your specific audi, however I do know enough to give you some sound advice to help you in your efforts.

First off, the issue at hand is your head unit. The only way to fix the problem is with an aftermarket one that is compatible with the desired music/phone device that you want to connect. Most modern aftermarket head units have up to date software to be compatible with all new phones out there, however they will usually list off specifics to help double check.

Secondly, the main issue that commonly comes with an aftermarket head unit is the harness. Any head unit can be wired to your stock wiring harness to work with your speakers, however without proper Y harnesses/modules you will typically lose steering wheel controls, or factory speaker integration[microphone for calls]. This is normally where a company such as Crutchfield comes in, who have done the research and found or manufactured the appropriate accessory parts. However in your case, you will most likely have to call around to local audio stores and see if they have done a system in your car before, and know of the proper harnesses needed for full integration.

If you can overcome the integration issue, it should be a simple plug and play; or at most a few butt connectors. If you do figure it all out, I would suggest a write up in the sub-forum for your car so that others that have the same issue can find help.

Good luck with your audio endeavors, unless you want recommendations on individual door speakers/amplifiers/subwoofers for a full audio build, that is the extent of my knowledge on the subject.
