What's up. Im from VA, just checking out the boards. I'll most likely be a frequent poster here, it's happened on the other boards i've been on.

I have a question. I have the option of gettin an 1.8T or a 2.8. Which would be the better of the two to buy? Most important, whats more reliable?. If the 1.8T is, how much does it cost and what must you buy to be equal with the 2.8?

depends... if you plan on doin mods 1.8T get a chip and youll have as much power as 2.8
If you just want reliability and decent power 2.8 aslo if you interested there is a supercharger that cost about $5K

 

What's the cost of the chip?

I'd like to have both, but I do like a turbocharged car, but I know that's just one more thing to break and replace in the long run.

 

Welcome to the forums. Hope you like it here. Just out of curiosity, how did you find this forum. As for your engine question, to me it depends a bit on what you plan on doing with it. The 1.8t is easy to mod. You can make many upgrades to that engine for a reasonable amount of money. You can add a K04 turbo and chip for less than helf the supercharger. The 2.8 can be supercharged, but like Chris said, that'll cost you some coin. I'm biased toward the 1.8t, because that's what I chose. I'd pick either engine in Quattro. I take Quattro for granted, until I drive my wifes car. Keep us informed on your descision.
