Hello everyone,

I was wondering you can help me or direct me to the right way.

I have a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T

About an hour ago i was driving, and my car seemed fine. (heat was blasting)
and then my battery light started blinking and my steering got REALLY tight and very hard to turn.

i checked the power steering fluid and there is nothing wrong with that, my car still turns on.. but battery light stopped blinking and is now SOLID.

any ideas what the problem might be?

either battery is shot and wont hold a charge or alternator has gone bad, it could also be the belt has snapped to the alternator

how much is a new battery?

 

have it checked before you waste money

 

Dealer just told me it could be my drive belt (educated guess).. wants me to bring it in.. but i cant even turn the wheel out of the parking spot!!.. let alone TURN!... ah, towing costs here I come.

 

more than likely the drive belt and a pig to fit

 

now that your a member its better to post in the A4 area or general tech area the response will be much better
