1.8T after 100k Miles?
I hear there is alot of problems for euro cars after they reach about 100,000 miles. would you know what usually happens to A4 after they've reached about 100k miles? does the turbo just die? and/or is there more problems with the engine itself.
Thanks for your input.

i just bought a 97 a4 1.8 and i have to rebuild the engine because one of the pistons fried and got metal shavings in the oilfilter and fucked it all up but i donno if thas normal or if the prev owner beat the hell out of it. but he says the turbo is still in good condition
a 1.8t is a very good engine of german engeneering. you should not push it when it´s cold and oil temperature is below 75° and drive it slowly on the last miles if you pushed it very hard over a longer time.
and you also should look some thimes after your.... ähm what´s the word... the thing that flows the air through bevore it comes to the engine and puts the worth to the engine management. indicators of a fault in this is less gas than you know it from your car and you have less power than normal.
when you thread it right and everything is ok it´s ready for 200k miles!

they actually extended the warranty on the motor to 10 years unlimited mileage cause of the oil sludge, but if you use synthetic, it wouldnt be a problem... the sludge comes from cooking the natural components of conventional oil.
The water pumps, they are very hard to distinguish if it works or not.
its easier to pay 70 buks for it to be over.
like O2 sensors they dont have a regular yes no system.
Water pumps, life:
new - works great, almost 90%
as it gets older, the corosion hapens and the berings go nuts, no leakage - bum 75%
leaking nasty, woops - 50%
really leaking not a drop a day like a cup - 25%
if lukky and it leaks but does not go nuts.
later it go nuts meaning it has a huge luft - 10% or less
Woops too late, 0% Cheap bustard
as you see it goes out relativly fast.
Just invest some and get more back. mmmK.
