2000 A6 2.7T Turbos smoke when cold
My wife's 2000 A6 2.7T has a problem with the turbos causing oil smoke when they are cold. It got down to 10 last night and this morning when she started it they were blowing smoke out of both tail pipes. She let the car sit a little while and started it again and the problem went away.
Is there a cheap solution to this problem?
Does this symptom mean the turbos need to be replaced?

More than likely it is the seals on the compressor housing. If they are not properly sealing then oil will leak into the compressor housing and run oil into the intake. You can buy a rebuild kit and just replace the center seals if there isnt a lot of shaft play. I think that the kit is around $100 per. I have never rebuilt a KKK turbo before but have rebuilt several garrett and HKS turbos and it isn't that hard to do.
