2009 A4 Turbo out within recall
 

Driving the other day, my 2009 A4 avant quattro (51,000 miles) lurched forward, lost "power", the parking brake malfunction light, EPS off light, and check engine lights came on. I was able to slowly drive it to the dealer who informed me the turbo was out but covered under the recently announced extended warranty. However, they also informed the error lights will remain on unless I spend $462 to repair a crank case seal and the breather valve. I am not sure why these came on with the turbo going out, but according to the dealer were not caused by the turbo default. This doesn't really make sense to me but if someone can explain how they are related I'd appreciate it.

I just spent $1800 fixing the water pump, o ring, and the oil sensor. I am not thrilled about the recent turn of events. This may be my second Audi dud.

Get the turbo repaired under warranty and leave. Get the shareware version of Vagcom from Ross-Tech: Home and buy an OBD2-to-USB cable off of eBay. When you get the car back, note the codes and clear them. If the CEL comes back on, scan again and deal with whatever codes are there.
