Advice on building up 2001 s4

Hi There,

I have an A7 as primary driver, and just got an auction 2001 s4 I am looking to rebuild for track (drag and occasional local road track) use. It has 110k miles so looking for advice on what I should get done since I am planning an engine rebuild, suspension mods, etc.

I've done various crank-up engine rebuilds for turbo purposes, but not an audi (I'm an old dodge mopar head who has grown up to an audi ;)

Information I am looking for:

-Bottom end work: How are the stock engine parts for this car, when new? Should I invest in any aftermarket crank/piston/rods and if so, any changes recommended for a track-only car?
-Heads - any suggestions on head work (either improving the stock heads or replacement options). Cams, valves, etc.
-Turbo - are the stock good until what amount of boost? If replacement is recommended, what are some of the options out there? Is it worth while refurbishing the old ones?
-Transmission - how does the 6 speed hold up? What about clutch? Do most folks keep it stock or are there a high number of failed transmissions under modified/increased boost?

I am still getting my bearing on this site, so apologies in advance for duplicative questions if they are already out there and thanks for any input.

Thanks,
Kiku

The B5S4 is probably the most documented platform for tuning purposes in Audi history. Your best bet, honestly, is to look around in the B5S4 forum here and on Audizine.com. You will find so much info your brain will melt, and it will answer all these questions. Good luck, and happy tuning!
