Upgrade the turbo on a diesel A4
 

Hey all,

Finally back in the world of Audi, and all the fun that comes with them.
So to the topic, I just recently bought a 06/99 Audi A4 2.5TDI. It's a V6, 6spd, AKN engine type, and I was wondering if anyone has come across this topic before,
I have been doing research on this particular car, and from what I can find, it's a rare car in these forums.

The fact that it's a diesel, and turbo charged, There don't seem to bee many tuning options for it(beside a chip). However i was looking at upgrading the turbo to a stage 3 if possible, or put on a hybrid turbo, but I have yet to find any aftermarket parts that fit the description of my car. so my question is, if a stage 3 turbo for a VW/Passat that has an AKN engine, I would assume that the mounts would be the same, minus upgrading the intercooler. However I would like to be sure before I go out and find the upgrade. I have other options in mind, however this one would best be placed in a forum dedicated to turbos.

All I know about this particular turbo at the moment is that it uses thrust bearings, and puts out about 5psi to my knowledge.(from other's accounts stock on a dyno) Have only had the car for 4 days, so I am doing the best I can to find out more.

This is my first Audi with a turbo, I didn't have time to make that addition to me 99 2.8 before she died. Hence the apparent lack of knowledge in this category. Any help would be appreciated. I am overseas at the moment stationed in Germany, so Internet or junk yards are my options, I don't have the luxury of being in the states for parts anymore. The car is EURO spec too if that can help any.

Dude, you're worried about getting aftermarket parts from the US when you have a German spec car IN GERMANY??? I envy you so much. I asked for Germany too. They gave me Ft. Hood (bastards).

Anyway, your best option is to learn German, or find someone to translate, and go to a local tuning shop. Trust me, there has got to be someone within a stone's throw distance from where you're stationed that can tune your Audi to do just about anything you want.

Then start a build thread over in the B5 section, and let everyone be jealous!

Ft. Hood, I'm sure it's better than what I got, got put in USAG Baumholder, voted worst duty station in the Army Times.(never saw the article but heard it repeated a million times). Its in the black whole that is the sphincter of Germany.

I understand the irony of it all, it is Euro Spec, which what most people want their Audi's to be, but in the end, the gauge reads KM/hr, and its all German like it should be.

I do have several German friends who might be able to help with translations. Reason for the turbo upgrade, is Autobahn driving, its fast and relentless, I'd like to be able to show off my new whip, and keep up with everyone else that drives 200km/hr, 124mph. its in awesome shape for 246k km(156k miles). i'll post more pics later when the weather breaks. that build section isnt a bad idea, its a rare car for this forum, or in general.
