upgradeing to a k04 turbo
 

i was thinking about getting a k04 turbo but dont really know what in going to get my self into. i want to get 250awhp with out riping my engine apart. a lill help would be great.:) and plz keep the negative comments to your self

k04 is a great mod and nothing to worry about except get a good one like the borg warner . i have done two k04 mods and one gt28r all have several years of reliable use with no problems if the 1.8t can handle 300hp it can surely carry on with 250. i like using the apikol rear diff mount and new motor mounts. the k04 is really nice as it has better low end torque than the bigger turbo that i have used. i really recommend the sprint booster mod. it enables you to get into the throttle quicker and really changes the seat of the pants feel for a very cheap $300 and 5 minute installation. also k&n panel.

A KO4 on a 1.8T will top out at about 250HP at the crank. After about 25% drive train loss for an AWD set up, you're be looking at about 190AWHP. For 250 at the wheels, you'll probably need to look into an Eliminator set up with supporting mods like FMIC and upgrading the clutch. Mike at Ringer Racing is the resident 1.8T guru and he would be able to answer any questions you had about upgrading the 1.8T, from mild to wild.

For the 2.0T, I have no knowledge or experience with that engine... Given the higher displacement, you might be able to get close with just a KO4 and an aggressive tune.
