The code should be on a card in with the owner's manuals. If not, pull the radio and get the serial number off the side. Call Audi North America with that and the VIN and they'll give you the code. Your dealer might as well, but often they'll charge you an hour's labor for doing the 3 minutes of work it takes to get you the code.

I've been told that they have to hook the car up to Audi's diagnostic network to pull the code from their database.

I've had one dealership refuse to give me the code without having the car in the shop.
I've had that same shop tell me that it would be an hrs labor for that 5 minutes of work.

And I've had a dealership charge me $20 when I got fed up and finally took it somewhere else after the other ******** gave me that runaround.

So, I'd try your local dealership, see how bad they want to hit you, and go from there.

Yeah that bit about having to hook it up is bullshit. Guy I know used to work at a shop that had access to the German online reference systems. With radio s/n and VIN he could get the code.

Nope, Empire is still a bunch of *****-eaters, although the guy at the parts counter is pretty cool.

Oneonta isn't any better. I went in there and asked for a tube of haldex oil and a filter for the TT once, and the guy at the parts counter asked "Whats haldex?"

10 minutes later, he returned from the stockroom with a tube of haldex oil, and an engine oil filter.

I sent him back for a haldex filter, but told him while he was at it, get me 2 filters, and another tube of oil. I didn't want to have to deal with this again in a few months.

No can do. ONLY oil and filter in stock. The reason? Nobody asks for them.
I reminded him that it was on Audi's scheduled maintenance, and maybe they should be replacing them a little more often...
