army reserves
I'm in the reserves. May I ask why you want to join? Remember its not a job, its a commitment. If you do join forget everything you thought you knew about the military. Be more specific with your questions and I'll try to answer them.
I've got a 16 year career behind me, 8-active/8-reserve, and I'm working on weasleing my way back in, to finish up my 20. There are a few others around, as well. As Trey said, be a bit more specific in your questions and we will all answer candidly.
haha "weasleing my way back in". Uncle Sam said you're too damn smart for your own good. He said you were a bad influence. Plus hes being cheap right now, doesn't want to give up the pension stash.
i was just up at the army office today, taking the **** test and asvabs on thur.........then i go from there

depends on what field you're interested in. As a MP, or just being in the military, gives you hiring preferences in almost any law inforcement job. As a mechanic you can turn your military training into ASE certification (don't quote me on that one) or little known fed jobs where military experience or membership is required. OR you can do a few years, get out, join a private contracted company and make $150000+ as civilian contractor overseas. There are so many options.
I was working alongside civilian contractors doing the same fvckin job while they made 4, 5 times my paycheck[:@]

Personally i wouldnt join at this point if you dont like what going on in washington or in the middle east. one of my friends is in the reserves and is getting shipped off to iraq, hes been in it for a year, during his training he got injured by one of the instructor, he seems like more a dick from when we were in high school. it does have it perks but like trey25 said its a commitment you have make.
ok more specific questions... my eyesite isnt the best... i do wear contacts. will that be an issue? Also, i do want to continue with school. Do you think i can do both? Ill be honest and up front in saying im not a great student. but like, for time committment isnt it like 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks over the summer?
also, most of all, im looking for the experience, and i want to say that i did this. Im confident i can and love the thought of being a member of the US army... ill have more questions im just tired now haha

Six year reserves (one wknd a month, 2 weeks in the summer). Then two more in the inactive reserves (just the 2 weeks in the summer, and you "can't" get deployed) You could do any of the 120 jobs in the reserves, depending on your asvabs score, and go to school doing whatever you want.
