I find the doors on the Passat just as good... and the interior isn't quite the quality of an A4, but it's still nicer than anything domestic -- by a long shot! Creaks and rattles have plagued the Golf/Jetta/GTI, mainly.
Not that our A4 or the Passat is immune...

 

just while we are on audi quality. just want to say that it has gone way down hill from back in the day. i have 3 audis all predate me. 87, 87, 85, all of them are in better shape than an 96 A4 that i could practically say is mine... but still sit in an A4 and then sit in a Golf and you'll feel the difference.

 

I don't see any VW's with a twin turbo V10.

It might also help you to know that VW also owns Seat, Scania, Skoda, Lamborghini (which falls under direct control of Audi), Bentley, and Bugatti. And then over 50% of everything VW owns belongs to Porsche.

its like sayin what the difference in a lexus to toyota or acura to honda or benz to chrysler. Its all in the name my friend and to extra small ammenties u pay for in the long run.

 

we own a 98 passat, and a 99 a4.....same engine, a4 is quattro and manual, passat is auto, and fwd....
passat has 270k miles, and ZERO rattles...a4 has 185k and several rattles in the interior
a4 is a nicer, more upscale car, seats are nicer, dash/control layout is more well thought out, but the passat is a SOLID car.
audi = nicer looks, more standard options, higher quality materials, thoughtful touches (like the interior motion sensor....lol)
vw = less $$$, less standard options, utilitarian interiors

that being said, i would definatley own another vw, BUT, my first choice will ALWAYS be Audi
