BMW 323i Break Question
 

My gf has a bmw 323i rwd. She needs to chance front and rear rotors and pads b/c there are really in bad shape. She does not enouhg money to them all at the same time so she want to go with either one.

There is my question ?

Which side is more important on a rwd car? front or rear ? Which you guys prefer to change first ?

Front brakes almost always do more of the work stoppng the car ( unless your proportioning is messed up ).
I would do the fronts.

Also Just my opinion, but............

Hey buddy - help the GF out. Pay for the rears. U don't want her to crash, do U?

yeah I'm helping her. I'm payin for the breaks already :) so accually I'm the one who has no money :D j/k

It's my best Valentine's day's gift to her to buy front rotors and pads :D

stopin power is in the front thats why when cars only come with 2 brakes instead of 4 they put em in the front

It doesn't matter which end has more stopping power, that's not why you replace rotors and pads. You replace them because as they get thin (from wither wear or the brake shop turning them), the brake piston can actually come out of the caliper, at which point you lose ALL braking capability and the pedal goes to the floor. That's why there's a minimum thickness number on the rotor itself. If she can't afford to fix front and rear brakes then the car shouldn't be on the road.

Agree, all pads should be changed, but if cost is really a factor, then front first.

new rotors ands pads can be easily found for a somewhat reasonable price on eBay... Do the work yourself (it's not THAT hard, rilly) and you can save a HUGE pile-O-money... If they're already scraping/grinding ya gotta do all 4 corners... If there's still an appreciab;e amount of material left on the PADS, then I'd go with the fronts...
