at first i was entertaining the idea of getting the s5 next year but the m3 has a better engine. an engine without any bottlenecks/imperfections has the HP increase in proportion to the RPM. both engines in both cars do this but the BMW makes more power with respect to the displacement. so many engines, including the 2.0T, have the power dip down at the higher RPMs-which is lame.

if only the BMW had a quatto setup, that would be perfection.

the 3.0T is a formidable engine. but i don't understand how the 2.0T plays into the discussion of a 2011 S5 and a 2011 M3. BTW the S5 with all the bells and whistles is a cheaper than the M3. if you're talking about just the engine, they haven't been out long enough for a proper comparison

 

I think a more appropriate comparision would be M3 vs RS4, since the RS4 is really Audi's answer to the M3, IIRC.

 

the best comparison here would be the a4 v the honda... cause we all know they started the "skreet tunez impotz waz"

I'm obviously going to be partial to the M3, but I would say your best bet is to simply test drive them both and base your decision off of that.

 

Or look up season 2 of topgear where they put a i believe an S4? vs a M3 and stright line m3 wins turns Audi wins, every agree for classieness Audi was everyones choice.

 

I thought about that but then realized that it is TOTALLY irrelevant when he's comparing an S5 against the new generation M3.
