Default Chicago people!?

Hey guys!

I'm headed to a conference in Chicago towards the end of June... I'll be there through the week, I think. Monday-Thursday is most likely.

Any advice on things to do? Places to go? Hotels to stay at? Money saving tips (I am teh poorz)?

Keep in mind I am driving like 10 hours to get there... so I'm probably not going to be down for 2 hour drives to 'nearby' attractions. Well, maybe I would... it'd depend. Your American gasoline is so cheap! Hahaha

I'm not from the Chi but I would definitely recommend going to Wrigley Field and seeing a Cubs game.

Wrigley is one of the most legendary sites in baseball

I'm actually going to Rosemont, IL, but I figure I'll spend most of my time exploring Chicago.

I'd like to find a nice hotel for around 80 a night. I'm going to try and do this trip on the cheap... as I've got other plans this summer and fall that are going to cost me.

Not a baseball fan... the strike in the early 90's squandered my interest forever.

Haha, I see... it says it is 25 minutes away from Chicago (up to 40 in traffic). Ha, I've never seen google say that bit about traffic, before.

I'll probably just use trip advisor and expedia or something to find a hotel... I'm more interested in stuff to see/do. If there's nothing worthwhile, I'll just cut the trip short and come home (I present at the conf on the Tuesday, so that's the only day I -have- to be there).

You can go sight seeing and take the boat tour around the river/lake when you're in Downtown.
There's the Miracle Mile if you feel like going shopping. Visit the Hancock tower while you're at it. It's $10 to go up (IIRC) for bird's eye view of the city. View from Hancock seems to be better than Sear's Tower.

Don't forget to stop by and get some deep dished pizza and if you're in the suburbs area, stop by Culver's. Mushroom & Swiss with the cheese curds. I wish we had Culver's in Cali.

BTW - Traffic in Chicago isn't bad at all compared to LA. I somehow missed driving in traffic when I was there. LOL.

well if your in rosemont area you got the rose shaped water tower, and in chicago oyu got the sear tower which is like $18 last time i was there, millenium park which is always fun to walk through, the lincoln zoo is still free i believe, you got the lake, pretty much just walk through downtown youll find something. also the hilton hotel in rosemont is fairly priced, but it is also a convention center so their prices may be a bit higher.
