crazy labor estimate?
 

My brothers car went in for a stage 2 suspension upgrade yesterday. (540i BMW). The estimated labor was 12 hours! Does that sound like he's being overcharged? Oyeah and Dinan's labor rate is $130/hr.

better off takin it to a private mechanic not DINAN! My dads BMW dealer charges sick rates too...but thats not Dinan.

I've done my suspension before. It should only take about 1.5-2 hours per wheel and I'm being generous here.

8 hours should be plenty of time to complete the suspension, but its possible (especially with BMW) that they have some crazy active suspension system (similar to the RS6 and the new S8), which might add an hour or two in the mix...since the estimate you got is from a dealer, they usually give high estimates, so that may be right.

they probably charged him for time when they were standing around discussing, and breaks.

I wouldnt put it past them. Im at work right now, i claim 8 hours a day, but nobody actually works for 8 hours. Try around 4 or 5. With n\my numerous breaks and the hours that i browse forums

high estimate for cars in general but when u take into the equation, its by Dinan and its a 540i its gonna cost u more. U could save some moeny if u go to a private mechanic (german cars) to do it, but Dinan prolly stands by their work and it may help with the warranty with BMW and even if the suspension co. requires profesional installation.


Just remember u get what u pay for.
