Default Dare vs iPhone

Not that i am comparing by any means, but i had to gloat and laugh at my roommate tonight, he ordered a clarion head unit (not a cd deck) for his car strictly for the bluetooth connectivity, so he could listen to music from his iPhone &/or the Pandora app. we install the deck, connect his phone via bluetooth, works just fine, but cant stream audio, i connect just fine with my dare & can stream audio via bluetooth just fine. so we did a lil research, and found out the one thing the iPhone does not have is A2DP capabilities, so the iPhone cant stream audio (im sure people probably already know this, but still), sh*tty for him. o well, i had to rub it in his face and play all my music thru his head unit.

Which he could order a bluetooth transmitter for around $50, but lame on that idea.

I am sure if u jail break it there's probly an app that allows it to play but ya that's one feature i wouldn't mind. Especially when I found a cordless bluetooth cassette adapter that would be so stealthy and cool! (if it works like it should)

No apps to let you run A2DP, it is disabled by Apple deep within the phones OS I guess. Fecking STUPID. You can search for posts by me containing A2DP and find my rant about the iPhone. Lack of A2DP was the last straw for me... I traded it for a BB Bold.

Honestly it doesnt bug me that much because if I'm gonna use it in my car id rather have it charging too. The battery life is too short I have almost wore it out several times now in a day.

With a simple dual male audio jack I listen to my iPhone no problem - besides bluetooth transmissions drains your battery life more.

We got a iPhone connector for my wife's Altima it not only plays the music it also charges!

And you will never get that stupid digital distortion that bluetooth gets if the signal is interrupted. Definitely like plugging it in more. I just need to buy the kit and make my ash tray iPhone mount

Well, heres the shitty thing about a direct connection. The head unit he bought was a cheap clarion, and since he cant stream audio from the phone, i told him to just direct connect thru the aux input in the rear. we we hooked up an RCA-->1/8" stereo jack, turn on music, and all volume control from the deck is disable, in fact the audio coming in from the phone thru the direct connect completely bypasses everything in the deck, just goes straight to the speakers, it plays at the same time the tuner plays if tunes is selected, it plays over the SD card slot if that is selected, you cannot adjust the bass/treble of the sound, the only volume control you have is the control on the iPhone, so, even at its loudest, theres no way it would be loud enough to hear while driving. its wierd, ive never ran across that, we went over the manual as well, and the manual claims it should work just fine. so he's gunna call crutchfield again today to see whats going on.

i convinced him that a direct connect would sound better than bluetooth cause of less interference and such, and when i finally get him convinced to not be a vag about, it still doesn't work, haha. so we went to dollar beer night instead.
