Dear members of AF
Alright, as you all know I am a huge fan of flaming, and one of the main contributors to the flaming on our boards; so keep that in mind as you read. Coming from someone that enjoys flames so much, this really should mean something.
The quality of flaming on this board over the past two weeks has degraded to the point where any time I meander onto the off topic boards, I usually end up chalking up one or two of you on my 'retarded' list.
If you have a personal vendetta for someone on these boards I advise you to ignore their posts from now on, because pretty much any response you make to this person will make you seem like a complete ‘tard. Flames comparable to "you're a stupid head" are beginning to be pretty damn intolerable. Childish accusations make reading frustrating, and in my spare time I personally am not a huge fan of having to read garbage. So really, read what you type, take a deep breath, and think before you hit the 'submit' button. Sure, I'll admit some people's garbage on these boards have pissed me off, and I have responded in a manner that displays my irritation; but I can honestly say that I, along with the rest of the people I personally respect on these boards, have not responded in an angry manner without having cause for doing so, and with that cause there is proposed an intelligent argument. By intelligent, I don't mean scholars sitting down and discussing philosophy; all I'm asking for here is well thought out points and arguments.
Initially, I had wanted to post this without mentioning anyone’s names... so anyone this applies to knows who I'm talking about. I'll admit I was probably one of the founders of this new fad, but really... lay off. Though he has made a bunch of stupid posts... and entire threads... he takes it all with a grain of salt; and that I respect. Only very recently, and on the odd occasion in the past, have I seen him actually take personal offence to a flame clearly intended to hurt him. Now, yes, in the past I have teased him about his incredible spelling, constant mind changing, and seemingly endless threads (and I probably still will if it ever goes back to a joke, and not an attack); and for a while there, it was funny. Hell, in the creation of an entire thread of mine I thought it would be funny to write like him in it. Had a good laugh, no harm done. These jokes still would be funny if they hadn't been killed so quickly from being overused-- the key here people is ‘taste’. Really, I've never seen a collective group of people use the same jokes so often… and with intent to hurt someone. It's like 90% of the people here are the annoying guy that comes up to you at the party and reminds you of that time 5 years ago you puked all over your date. It was funny then, I would still kid about it now... but you killed it asshat... you just plain killed it; and now you're just annoying.
So there we have it, I finally found time to write this in an attempt to "quell the tidalwave of idiocy you [guys have] drown us in". I'm sure most of you know the specific threads I'm talking about. So if you don't know if this is directed at you or not, look through the threads... did you say something stupid? Then yeah, I'm probably talking to you. [Sidenote: I am no longer taking any PMs about whether or not I like you. They get annoying, and I probably liked you before you sent me the PM)
So this isn't a lecture, this is a request. Think about the post you're about to make. Read it over. Breathe. Then, if you don't think you're going to look retarded when it's posted, hit the button. Every little contribution is great... it's what makes a message board. Every flame has the potential to either cause a 'riot' or a 'debate.' Think about what you're about to post. Make it a debate.

but in all honosty, I love you guys, esp APG, I had a little brother in the fraternity who was like him, that every day I feared him getting hit crossing the street... but the bastard had a 4.0 GPA... just dont get it.
and anyone else who flames ahve gotten out of control with we have taken care of it in PM's and made plans for fist fight or just forgave and :hugged:
