Wow. Some people get really but hurt when you don't bow down to the SMG as superior equipment.

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sho...9&page=1&pp=35

It's jerky when cruising, violent when hauling ***, and from what I've read on that board prone to fialure as well. Also take into consideration that the E46 M3 was .1-.2 second slower in the 1/4 when equipped with the SMG in place of the 6-sp. Plus while you might save some small amount of time over a hard lap of a road course due to the slightly faster shifting, they specifically say that the M5 wan't designed for lapping tracks. But somehow they all think that the SMG is "clear superior in every way".

How is it superior again? Oh yes, I know, you get to pretend that you're Mark Webber. [&:]

I got to finally drive one yesterday. Stickered at 89,900. Even if I had the money I wouldn't buy one but I wouldn't turn down a free one. Still a great car and the performance was pretty amazing. Doesn't sound that good at idle but when it gets going it sounds great. I only drove it for about 10 mins so I can't comment on it fully, but from what I experienced, looks to be as good as they claim.

I still don't like the SMG though and wish it had a 6spd.
