thats a pretty interesting idea. only downside i see is a student might grab the gun from a teacher, knowing that he has it, if he gets "emotionally fuked up". kinda the whole keeping a gun in the house around children argument. but still i would rather them have guns (cant **** off any more teachers[:-])

there are plenty of other things that could be done to prevent things like this. my school, FSU, just sent an email to everyone asking to register their cell phone numbers. that way they can text everyone in case of an emergency like at virginia. people could be evacuated sooner. i think its a great idea

well we can have the teachers carrying their guns on a belt or a shoulder holster. hopefully then people cant take them. gaaa what is this world coming to were we need to arm teachers?????????/ school is a place to learn. people should not be afraid there.

There is so little that could have been done to prevent something like this. Even the biggest anti-gun liberals in Washington have admitted that. I suppose intensive psychological screenings and full checkpoints at every single entrance to the campus and it's buildings might have been able to prevent this, but those are so horribly impractical that they will never happen. I'm not sure how licensing works in other states, but here in MA, unless you know the chief of police, the licensing officer (if they aren't one in the same) and not only have a legit reason but several people backing you up, you just don't get a license.

This was a deeply disturbed individual, who obviously played everyone he needed to in the process of getting his weapons to commit this heinous act. But, what if he didn't get those guns? Trying to shift focus here, if he didn't get guns, he would have found another way. He could have tried to buy them illegally, or who's to say he didn't attempt to manufacture explosive devices or even just took his car (or a stolen one for that matter) and ran down people? The point that this hilights is that there are people in this world, who no matter what controls, laws, and checkpoints are in place, will go and kill people. And they will do so with whatever tools they can get their hands on. If one knows what they are doing, a screwdriver can be even more deadly than the sharpest knife.

I take on a huge responsibility every time I walk out my front door carrying (which is all the time, since I don't attend school or anything.) It's the unexpected and unpredictable that myself and those like me have trained for, and still nothing can prepare you for actually having to draw your weapon and then, god forbid, use it.

And I agree that making a school a place to be able to carry a gun is a horrible idea.

Just my seven cents.

All of you have good points, and Palandari thats insane working that sort of job in Los Angeles, I commend you for not carrying a gun out of a personal belief.

I personally don't think legalizing guns on a campus is a smart move, think about what your saying.... Students all around carrying guns, do you know what takes place in college? Drinking, fights, sex, stress... think about how a gun could influence any of those things. You'd have innocent deaths there as well, Cho was a problem with personal issues (Clearly) and apparently he found it nessecary to take it out on others.

I read that he make a 8 page rant about how he hates Religion and Rich-Kids... Hmm... And former classmates of his from years before said his writing was so disturbing they would "joke" that Cho would take the steps he did just recently. The dude was sick.... But all and all, why go back and say "If only this, if only that"... [&:]

sit back and think of this? was he bullied by the rich/better off and condemned because of where he came from? was he accepted as a part of the USA community or just another immigrant? ( remember we are all human beings and members of the earth and human race first and our country's are where we choose to live ),
if this guy had a real problem he could have strapped explosives to himself like the middle east prefers because life is cheap over there and it could have been much more serious ( a gun is a toy in this situation one bullet one person one bomb = many people ),
is the gun a good idea and I would have to say YES in sensible hands ( a burglar/murderer/rapist would think twice before he does his dirty deeds ) and lets face it in the UK there has been a phenomenal rise in gun crime and we dont allow weapons of any sort which will change im sure.
guns dont kill people - people use guns to kill people

people should be allowed to carry guns for safety reasons that's why the British law is so ill conceived ( a person draws a gun on me and I have the same right to protect myself but the UK judicial system is confused by attack or defend ) and the USA = defend
