just throwing it out there, but who has wanted to do or have done an engine swap on their audi? whether it was an audi engine or not. i just want to know what's there since i hear of others doing engine swaps with their cars.

 

I forget his user name but there have been a few people that have swapped a Audi 4.2L into a b5 A4. And of course there is the 2.7T swap. But usually unless it's a unique engine like a 4.2 or something it ends up being cheaper or about the same just to buy an S4 or similar vehicle.

 

Sienna and The Russian both swapped 4.2's, I believe the former from an S8, the latter from an A8.

2.8_tuner is in the midst of a VR6T swap, he has build threads in the B5 forum on here and the zine.

There's another guy on the zine who swapped in a 350 SBC, that was a silly build.

I've also seen a TDI swap from a Jetta, so if you've got the time and know-how(and/or lots of $$$), anything is possible.

 

034's B5 A4 was VR6T swapped for a while. IIRC its back to a 2.0l 4cyl. CAB is right, if the swap is an engine that already came in that body, it would be cheaper to just buy the car with the engine you want.

The_Russian's A4 is ill. He'll be running it at Pike's Peak Hill Climb this Summer.
