High Millage and a long trip.

So for the ones with high millage(100k) and above, what would you bring for spares and tools on a 10k trip?. I am planning a trip not sure about how many miles I will be putting on the odometer. I do know it won't be anything short of 3k miles. So to be on the safe side I said 10k.

i'd bring another car in tow!

plus:
1. jumper cables
2. quality flashlight
3. a paddle ball

good luck and have a safe trip.

Are you mechanically inclined / do you work on your car yourself? If so, bring the most common tools you might use to work on your car. For me it's a few different size of wrenches, a full socket set with ratchet, torx bits, and a few other odds and ends.

I certainly agree with the flashlight idea! But to me the LED flashlight on my smartphone is sufficient.

Everything everybody else said, PLUS:
  • Extra can/bottle of oil, maybe two.
  • Windshield-washer fluid
  • one of those "emergency," universal replacement belts (or, do a VERY thorough job of inspecting your under hood bits & pieces, WELL PRIOR to trip-day)
  • Roll of shop (paper) towels.
  • Gallon-jug of (tap) water.

* a flint to make fire
* a machete to build shelter and/or hunt game
* metal pot to boil water/cook food
* fishing line and hooks
* pillow and blanket if you want to be comfortable

Don't forget, a book of sing-a-longs, in case you happen to drive outside cell-phone/radio/music-cd/mp3-player range!
